Yoga Therapy with Courtney Brame: A Path to Emotional Wellness
Welcome to a space dedicated to emotional wellness and self-exploration through the healing practice of yoga therapy.
As a Yoga Therapist in training, I am offering 1-on-1 donation-based sessions to help guide individuals—especially Black men—through emotional challenges, stress, and personal growth. Whether you're navigating emotional availability, anger, or other challenges, yoga therapy can offer powerful tools for healing.
What is Yoga Therapy?
Yoga Therapy is the application of yoga principles tailored specifically to meet the needs of the individual. It’s not about achieving perfect flexibility or mastering poses; it’s about learning to connect with yourself through movement, breath, and mindfulness. As defined by the International Association of Yoga Therapists, yoga therapy empowers individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the teachings and practices of yoga.
Unlike traditional group yoga classes, yoga therapy is a one-on-one experience. In our sessions, I work with you to identify the practices that fit your unique needs, emotional challenges, and lifestyle.
Why Yoga Therapy with Me?
My approach to yoga therapy is unique, blending my experience as a Black man navigating spaces where emotional wellness and vulnerability aren’t often discussed. I’m not the stereotypical yoga practitioner—I lift weights, I’m not super flexible, and I approach life with a focus on strength, both physical and emotional.
I’ve always been told I should be a therapist, but yoga therapy offers me a more personalized, holistic path. Through my work in nonprofits, podcasting, and program development, I’ve always taken a yoga-informed approach, but now I can offer something even more aligned. I don’t just want you to feel better after our conversations; I want to give you tools you can use to keep that feeling. With yoga therapy, we work together to design activities that empower you to actively participate in your own healing.
How Yoga Therapy Can Help You:
In yoga therapy, you’ll gain tools to:
Reduce stress and anxiety.
Build emotional awareness and resilience.
Address specific emotional challenges like anger, addiction, or compulsive behaviors.
Explore emotions that may be hard to understand or express.
Empower yourself with mindfulness and self-reflection practices.
While I work with anyone who feels aligned with my style, my focus is on Black men, particularly those who may struggle with the emotional challenges that society has made difficult to navigate. If you’re dealing with emotional immaturity, compulsive behavior, or just confusion around your emotions, yoga therapy can help.
What a Session Looks Like:
A yoga therapy session with me begins with a conversation, much like my podcast interviews—minus the audience. I hold space for you to speak freely and share what you hope to get from our time together. We’ll explore your lifestyle, habits, and emotions, and from there, I’ll create a personalized plan that incorporates breathwork, mindful movement, and space to reflect on what’s beneath the surface of your thoughts.
Each session is a collaborative effort to guide you toward self-awareness and emotional healing. Together, we’ll build practices that you can integrate into your everyday life for long-term growth and healing.
Accessible & Donation-Based:
I believe in making yoga therapy financially accessible to all, so all sessions are donation-based. You can choose what feels right for you, and we’ll work together to find a time that fits your schedule. Virtual sessions are available, and if you’re in New Jersey or we can arrange travel, in-person sessions can be arranged as well.
