Where purpose and passion align
About Me: Courtney Brame
I’m Courtney Brame, an Emotional Wellness Practitioner, unconventional yoga instructor, and Yoga Therapist in training. My work focuses on creating spaces where men—especially Black men—can explore emotional wellness in ways that feel authentic and practical.
Through my 500+ hours of yoga training and my ongoing Yoga Therapy studies, I’ve developed a unique approach to emotional health that integrates mindfulness, movement, and conversation. For me, Yoga Therapy isn’t about perfect poses—it’s about helping you process emotions, manage stress, and connect with yourself.
A Bit About My Journey
Before founding Selfed, I started Something Positive for Positive People (SPFPP), a nonprofit focused on reducing stigma around herpes and other STIs. Through SPFPP, I’ve hosted over 370 podcast episodes (SPFPP Podcast) and developed workshops to educate individuals and healthcare providers about stigma-free sexual health communication.
I’ve had the opportunity to present at conferences and annual meetings for organizations like the National Coalition of STD Directors (NCSD), where I taught Yoga for Disease Intervention Specialists, lead yoga sessions for sexual health professionals, and create resources that bridge sexual health with emotional wellness.
This work naturally evolved into my focus on emotional wellness for men, leading me to launch Selfed. Whether I’m hosting the Selfed Emotional Wellness for Men Podcast, facilitating workshops like the Black Men’s Emotional Wellness Symposium, or working with Yoga Therapy clients, my mission is to create spaces for real conversations and practical tools for personal growth.
