Selfed Black Men's Emotional Wellness Symposium
Deconstructing the "High Value" Man
On November 30th, 2024, join us for a virtual event where we break down what it really means to be a "High Value" man in today's world. This symposium is for Black men—and for those who love and support them—who are ready to explore emotional intelligence, mental health, and the deeper aspects of what it takes to thrive in today’s society by your own experiences and standards. Want a taste of the Convo, check out the June 30 Symposium.
I’m super hype about this because I get to integrate what I’m learning in Yoga Therapy Training to apply to my passion of bringing ya’ll this symposium. The concept I’m integrating into this one are the Koshas or the five layers of the self. Each speaker’s topic will speak to one of those as a pathway to defining the high value Man with some philosophy.
10am Rodrick Stewart the Anamaya Kosha: here we’re talking with Dr. Stewart, a board certified Family Medicine physician with a special interest in sexual dysfunction on physical fitness from the inside out speaking to health beyond the context of JUST looking good.
11:15am Ade Osinaike the Pranamaya Kosha: Ade brings an energetic and somatic angle to the topic of the high value Man as he’s openly found healing through ways maybe not so readily accessible and available to Black Men from a spiritual angle as a breath work facilitator.
12:30pm Anthony Toney the Manomaya Kosha: the mindset of a leader is one that requires observation and accountability. Artist and Male Leadership Advocate, Anthony Toney joins us to speak about the hot topics of today saying the things that need to be said but aren’t.
1:45pm Mike Joseph the Vijnanamaya Kosha: intuition isn’t always something we associate with Men and that disconnect is something Mike has spoken about on The Detoxicity Podcast. We’re speaking about empathy, respect, integrity, and joy as a high value Man.
Support Black Men's Emotional Wellness
I always talk about how therapy misses the mark along with discussions about how we need to talk about our mental health. What other modalities are there discussed for us to identify what our needs are? My hope is that incorporating my Yoga-Therapy experience in this space, we can welcome in a whole spectrum of healing that is more psychologically and financially accessible. Your attendance and donations support this mission of healing the world through the Black Man.

This is about creating a space for the Black Man—the one who may not always feel represented in mainstream media or traditional roles but is seeking consciousness, self-help, and holistic well-being. If you see yourself in this, or see the man you love in this, come through.
